The room was very good, clean, airy and well appointed. The breakfast was good.
As a guest passing through and not using the hotel as a spa/relaxation stop over, the choice of tv channels was limited as was the dining menu. Check in was easy, I was told the wing we would be accommodated in but directions as to how to get to our room were not given until specifically asked for. Every where else we have stayed in 7 weeks of travelling we have been given directions to our room when given the key.

Relaxed atmosphere. Structure if you wanted it or not, depending how you felt. Great to go alone. Treatments excellent and a huge variety. I loved the well being side ie advice about nutrition and opportunities to have medical checks etc....excellent particularly for busy people like me who could cover all those types of issues.
Rooms were very basic...mine was 76 and felt almost like a private hospital room.... Lacked some feeling of wellbeing etc. I would not want luxury but there could have been more comfort - brighter decor, more modern furniture. All else great. I loved the idea of it all being so relaxed and you would not get that if the hotel was 5 star, however some cosmetic work on the rooms would go a long way.

Everything was perfect. My room was spotless, the food was delicious and nutritious, the classes and facilities on offer were some of the best I have ever seen, the treatments and therapists were superb and the staff were all brilliant. They all bent over backwards to ensure I enjoyed my stay. Everything at Champneys exceeded my expectations.

All of the staff were good at their jobs, however some were exceptional: Carli (Bare Escentuals), Arlen (therapist for the Carita Eye Lift) and Charlie (in the cafe). These three people, with their knowledge and friendly nature really added value to my whole experience of staying at Champneys.
Speakers are required to play music in the pool for Aqua Fit and the instructor needs a microphone - the CD player he was using was just not powerful enough over the sound of the splashing water. Better signage would be helpful as the complex is a bit of a rabbit warren and it would be helpful to be given a map on arrival. The woman who gave the inital tour had a strong German accent and a very quiet voice which made it difficult to understand her, asking her to repeat things constantly became embarrassing. I think the restaurant is expensive and limited in its selection of dishes.

I liked the atmosphere in which you were left to do whatever you wanted and if you needed assistance it was always on hand, I throroughly enjoyed it and will be coming back in the future.

My daughter had the luxury day which she said was very good, the only thing was I had to ask for her robe , it wasnt just given to her. I had the relax day which meant I could use the spa as often as I wanted and join a class when I wanted, I did the hula hoop class which was fantasic. The food was lovely, we had dinner, breakfast and lunch.
I would have liked another robe because my one became wet. It would be nice if the cover for the outside jacuzzi came all the way to the door, we had to walk a little in the rain and there was no where to hang our robes or towels so they did not get wet in the rain. In the ladies changing room one of the taps was dirty.

Its location was stunning and good, next to the cafe outside on the terrace in the sun as well as Champneys Tring for a 6 day boot camp following a lovely stay at Forest Mere in January. The bed and pillows were relaxing, and the room itself was reasonably spacious.

The staff : the aqua fit instructor refused us entry into the aqua fit class for being 3 minutes late. Very embarrassing and after 10 years of being a gym member, I can honestly say I have never seen anything like it before. Service : Had to wait 30 minutes for robes to be bought to our room which were then bought in the wrong size and without flip flops (it was actually waiting for our robes that made us late for the aqua class!). Took 20 minutes for someone at reception to answer the phone even though there were two people working there. Food : Compared to Henlow the food is very poor. Lunch was dire and no better than school dinners. Breakfast was worse. Dinner was good though. Rooms : No window so very hot at night.

Beautiful grounds and great food options
Had a fantastic 2-night getaway with friends! The spa treatments we enjoyed were relaxing, and the food options were delicious and healthy, with plenty of variety. The grounds were fine. I did find the layout a bit confusing at times.

Comfy bed quiet surroundings although some of the guests were not considerate waking me up at 12:00 pm. Good place to relax food and treatments good.
Room too far away- took 10 minute walk to get to any of the facilities. Rooms need a bot of an upgrade

would like to stay there on the next trip
The double or twin room was comfy with a tv, kettle, and nice toiletries. Spa facilities included an indoor swimming pool, steam room, and a hot tub. Loved the yoga classes and the array of healthy food options provided. The peaceful gardens added to the relaxing vibe!
